Research Interests: development and characterization of passive and active immunotherapies against the human immunodeficiency virus type I (HIV-1). This includes the development of active DNA plasmid based vaccines against
HIV-1 as well as neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against the envelope glycoprotein of this virus. Another project involves the development of a vaccine against Alzheimer's Disease (AD) which targets the beta amyloid protein. Another project deals with the effect of opiates such as morphine on infection by human retroviruses.
